Borsa Di Milano – Gioponti Restoring

History and high-end craftsmanship converge in this delicate conservative restoration project for the Milan Stock Exchange. The building's historic rooms retained original wall and floor tiles dating back to the 1930s, which had suffered severe wear over the decades: from World War II damage and makeshift warehouse use, to the peeling of the original glaze caused by heavy-duty packaging tape. To restore these time-worn spaces to their former glory, we created a custom production of handmade tiles, faithfully replicating the original design.

The core of the project involved recovering and reproducing the historic pattern through a complex artisanal silk-screen printing process. Each individual tile was shaped and decorated to respect the nuances, aesthetics, and durability of the original twentieth-century elements. This seamless blend of traditional techniques and philological accuracy allowed us to replace the damaged pieces while blending invisibly with the surviving ones, preserving the architectural heritage of one of Milan's most iconic landmarks.
